What to expect

We read it together, out loud.

You send your resume ahead of time and we go through it on screen, section by section. I stop where a reviewer would stop, ask what you actually did in a role when the bullet does not say, and you take notes as we go. You leave with a marked-up list of changes in your own words, not a document I rewrote for you.

What we cover

  • How your resume reads to someone reviewing it quickly
  • Whether your experience is positioned for the roles you are targeting
  • How your accomplishments are coming across and whether they are specific enough
  • Keywords and language that align with what hiring managers are looking for
  • Gaps, inconsistencies, or anything that might raise questions before an interview
  • Structure and clarity so your most relevant experience gets noticed first

Where resumes usually lose me

  • The top third is a summary that could belong to anyone
  • Bullets describe duties assigned rather than what changed because you were there
  • The strongest thing you did is on page two, or in the last bullet of a section
  • Coursework and campus roles are listed without the part that makes them relevant
  • Dates and titles raise a question the resume never answers

Why you make the edits

If I rewrote it, you would walk into an interview defending sentences you did not write. I have watched that happen. When you make the changes yourself, you can explain any line on the page, which is the part that holds up when someone starts asking questions.
